How to retrieve the total amount of conventional memory?
Bytes &H13 and &H14 of segment &H40 represent the total amount of conventional memory in kilobytes. You can use the PEEK function to retrieve it, as follows:

	DEF SEG = &H40
	TotalMem = CVI(CHR$(PEEK(&H13)) + CHR$(PEEK(&H14)))
